How can you Make a Potentially Renewable Resource Sustainable

Here is, how can you make a potentially renewable resource sustainable? Renewable energy resources are sustainable. The word renewable itself means resources that are available in abundance and will never fade away. The reason behind their sustainability is the physical phenomenon of our solar system and earth. A list of renewable energy resources is hereunder.

  • Biomass. Wood and wood waste. Municipal solid waste. Landfill gas and biogas. Ethanol. Biodiesel.
  • Hydropower.
  • Geothermal.
  • Wind.
  • Solar.

All these energy resources are renewable, and they never die. Hydropower is the power generated using water flowing from higher potential to lower potential. As the water flows, it converts potential energy to kinetic energy. This kinetic energy helps rotate electricity generators or turbines. And these turbines, in turn, produce electricity. This is a renewable energy resource as nothing is wasted or used except the energy of falling water.

The reason behind the flowing waters is the rain and tidal pull of the moon on earth. This tidal pull makes it possible for ships to sail and water to flow. “As the tide rises, water moves toward the shore. This is called a flood current. As the tide recedes, the waters move away from the shore. This is called an ebb current.” However, rain also plays an essential role when it comes to flowing waters.

Earth consistently produces heat energy, and we use geothermal heat for bathing, heating buildings, and generating electricity. It is also a renewable energy resource as the inside of the earth is hot, and due to continuous activities on earth heat generation never stops. Thus, due to this infinite loop makes geothermal a sustainable and renewable energy resource.

Wind flows and helps us breathe and reduce temperature. It also helps to keep plants alive by helping the pollination process. Additionally, wind helps to bring changes in weather and causes rainfall. The wind is now used as a renewable resource for the production of electricity and energy. Big wind fans are installed in regions where wind pressure is high. The wind causes the fans to rotate continuously that ultimately conserves kinetic energy in the form of electric energy. This energy resource is expensive but a renewable resource that produces no pollution and zero carbon emissions.

At last, we have solar energy. Solar energy is one of the best energy resources. It is sustainable, cheap, and continuous. Sun shines and produces heat. The heat is transferred via light waves, and the solar panels capture this heat and convert it into electrical energy. You can read a detailed post on solar energy here.

Make a Potentially Renewable Resource Sustainable

Fossil fuels are nonrenewable energy resources. Whereas renewable energy resources are cost-efficient, and their impact on the environment is less severe. By earning benefits of the earth’s ability to grow and recycle organisms, renewable power resources can theoretically supply and fulfill our energy needs indefinitely.

It defines energy as renewable by calculating the time it takes to renew the primary energy resource. It is then compared to the rate at which it is consumed. And we call these easily producible energy like wind, solar, and biomass resources sustainable. Thus making traditional resources like oil, gas, and coal nonrenewable as they take millions of years to renew.

To Make a Potentially Renewable Resource Sustainable requires investing time and resources in building such machines and gadgets that consume lesser energy, and can convert energy from one form to another. Also, it requires installment and cheap production of such systems that can use these energy resources. Today, renewable energy resources are expensive that’s why many countries or parties can’t make use of it. The cost of technology reduces when multiple manufacturers participate in the production process, and government reduces tax. Additionally, awareness about the technology also helps improve the condition.
